News – Great Atlantic Invitational 2011‏ Results

Racers from all over the Maritimes, and as far away as Quebec and Ontario, flocked to Prince Edward Island, Canada for the 2nd Annual Great Atlantic Invitational last weekend. Rain dampened the mood and put a stop to racing early on Saturday, but the action resumed on Sunday. Muddy conditions turned into damp soil, then gave way to our usual loose race surface; the rain delay meant racing ran well into Sunday Evening.

Dave Henry dominated the 1/8 Buggy classes, TQ’ing and winning in both the 1/8 Electric and 1/8 Nitro classes. In Electric he was flanked by Jason Lutes and Sam Gillis. In Nitro he was joined by Raymond Gagnon and Laurie Cormier.

In Nitro Truggy, Michel Lamontagne TQ’d, but gave up First to Raymond Gagnon’s Kyosho. Dan Price rounded out the top three.

Durango was the top name in the 4×4 Pro/Mod Short Course Truck class, taking all 3 spots on the podium. Those trucks were driven by Yannick LeBlanc, Jamie Smitheram who also TQ’d, and Rene Wolfe.

In addition to 2nd in Electric Buggy, Sam Gillis also took home the TQ and Win in 2WD Short Course Spec, followed by Shawn Hume and Michael Thompson.

3rd – Rene Wolfe – Durango

2WD Spec Short Course Truck

1st – Sam Gillis – Traxxas
2nd – Shawn Hume – Traxxas
3rd – Michael Thompson – Traxxas
