After have been rescheduled due to poor weather conditions, everybody was more than happy to hit the track. Forty-one racers from all around the province of Quebec and many from Ontario were present for the race. Organisators worked hard to prepare a great racetrack with many technical sections, huge jumps and an excellent driver's stand and pit lane. The race was for a good cause, all funds collected from the race, lunches and breakfasts went directly to help Marika, a young girl that needs hyperbaric oxygen treatments. You can see Marika on her web site at www.fondationmarikablanchette.ca.

1/8 Buggy Sportsman - Final

Fastest lap: Sebastien Rousseau
TQ: Sebastien Roussean
Winner: Guillaume Tremblay

Sebastien Rousseau leaded the race for the first four laps. On lap number five, Guillaume Tremblay took the lead to win this 15 minutes race. Guillaume is only 7 and a half years old (His mom told me that the "and a half" was very important for Guillaume!!!) and was encouraged by his father which was his pitman for the race. Guillaume focused on his own race and never seemed to be distracted by others racers. He rolled few jumps and never drove over his skills. The second and third places were a battle between Sebastien Rousseau and Michel Boucher until mid race. Rousseau finished second and Boucher third.

1/8 Buggy - Final

Fastest lap: Abiye Birku
TQ: Martin Petre
Winner: Abiye Birku

This was the last race of the day and everybody was excited to watch the Buggy A-Main final. A lot of fast racers were present in this final. Abiye Birku started 6th but took the lead on the first lap and leaded the entire race. He drove a perfect line all race long and gave us a demonstration of his talent, he was simply the fastest driver, period! Team Associated Factory Team sedan driver Keven Hebert (Read an interview with Keven) took the second place at mid race and kept his place until the end of the race. Hebert was not just racing his RC8 FT for the first time but also was racing off-road for one of the first times. The third place went to John Baker.

Top qualifier, Dany Bradet had a strong start until lap #6 where John Baker got the leading position. Bradet and Martin Petre fought for the second place until Petre broke on lap #12 giving the third place to Daniel Brassard. The three first positions still the same until the end of the race. Dany Grenier battled hard to be on the podium, unfortunately for him, he finished only 0.8 sec behind the third place.

The last words

There is no word to describe a day at the track. It was the perfect occasion to meet old friends and to make new ones. There was a friendly atmosphere; everybody was willing to help others and this represents the "spirit" behind RC racing. Abiye Birku, Keven Hebert and Guillaume Tremblay surprised me by their skills. This round was the first ever RC Pro Series held in Québec and this was a success. Congratulations to everyone that made this day possible.
