Round #3

Québec city was the host of the third round of the Canadian RC Pro Series Québec division. Even if Québec city celebrates its 400th anniversary this summer, and even if Paul McCartney was giving a show in the same weekend, all the action was at the track of Chateau-Richer. The RC Fanatic race club prepared us a challenging race track with many nice features including big air jump and many technical sections.
More than 50 racers were present to fight for a place on the podium. Everybody signed up in the buggy or truggy classes. Unfortunately, nobody signed in the monster truck and gas truck classes. It’s a sign that the buggies are really popular everywhere in North America. It’s sad because gas trucks are very challenging to race and fun to watch.
1/8 Buggy - Final
Fastest lap:Philippe Lalancette
TQ:Philippe Lalancette
Winner: Hugo Levesque
Top qualifier, Philippe Lalancette bas been fast all day long and nothing changed for the final. His Team Associated leaded the race until he lost a wheel on his 12th lap. Marlene Deom jumped on the first position for a lap until Hugo Levesque took the lead. All the action was now between the second and the third positions. Marlene Deom battled hard to save her position from Eric Dube. Unfortunately for her, she didn’t finish the race giving the second position to Eric Dube. Meanwhile, Daniel Belliveau worked hard and was able to put his Jammin’ in third position. Few minutes after the start of the race, rain began to fall. After 15 minutes of race, the race director decided to stop the race because the track was too slippery and dangerous for the turn marshals, racers and pitmen. They were all completely wet!

Truggy - Final
Fastest lap: Dany Bradet
TQ: Dany Bradet
Winner: Danny Grenier
In the Pro Truggy Class, eleven racers were fighting for the honors. After the first lap, Danny Grenier took the lead followed by Daniel Brassard and by Marlene Deom. The top qualifier, Dany Bradet was in fourth position. Right on lap #3, things changed. Dany Bradet was now leading and Danny Grenier was following closely. Both racers fought closely until lap 27 when Bradet flamed out his RB powered Jammin’ giving the first place to Grenier. Bradet came back few seconds later but it was too late for the first place, he finished second and Eric Bergeron third.

The last words
All racers had a blast to race on the track prepared by the folks of the RC Fanatic race club. New comers and veteran racers spent great moments all together. They shared tips and laughs all day long. Chances are that you don’t know where Québec city is or maybe you don’t care about Canadian Pro Series but there is something we all share together no matter if you are from somewhere in the USA or in Europe, this the passion we all have for the hobby, no matter where we are from or who we are. And this is why I wrote those race reports, simply to tell the world that RC is alive all around the world… Even in Quebec.
