Review Pro-Line Bow-Tie 2.0 X3

Thanks for sharing...

In the past years, the Pro-Line Bow-Tie has always been one of my favorite tires. I’ve raced Bow-Tie tires on my monster trucks, 2wd buggys, electric and nitro stadium trucks and 1/8 electric and nitro buggys.

The Bow-Tie gives excellent forward traction and good side bite on loose tracks. Pro-Line racing has updated their famous tire with minor modifications to the tread. Pro-Line now offers the Bow-Tie in the low wear X2 (medium) and X3 (soft) compounds.

Few weeks ago, I’ve picked two pairs of Bow-Tie X3 tires that I’ve mounted of Pro-Line Velocity wheels. As expected, the tires were free of rubber residues and they mounted well on the wheels. The Bow-Tie 2.0 tires come with closed cell inserts to keep the tire in good shape even under hard cornering.

I’ve installed my Bow-Tie 2.0 X3 compound tires on my RC8.2e and have ran them for 6 packs and each packs have lasted an average of 20 minutes. Three of these packs were on grass and dirt while the three others were mainly ran on asphalt in the street. During all the testing, I’ve never changed the tire position. The tires shown in the pictures are the front ones. On a 1/8 buggy, the front tires wear out faster due to central diff unloading more power to the front wheels.

After six packs of abuses on abrasive surfaces like asphalt, the Pro-Line Bow-Tie 2.0 X3 still in good condition. No major signs of wear. I’m surprised by how well the new X3 compound grips on dirt and by the low-wear characteristic. It is an excellent mix of durability and traction. Many others tires would have looked like slick tires after such abuses.
