Reedy factory driver Ryan Maifield continues to dominate the Open Short Course Truck class. Fresh off of a big win at the Hot Rod Hobbies Shootout, Ryan confidently headed to Leisure Hours Raceway in Joliet, IL for the 2010 ROAR Electric Off-Road Nationals.

Reedy teammate Chad Due started things off with the fastest run in the opening qualifying round. But on day two and in dramatic fashion, Maifield set the pace in the last two rounds to claim the pole position for the Amain event. Due would eventually qualify in third position with another Reedy driver, Travis Amezcua, one position back in fourth.

As any racer knows, qualifying is only half the battle. The triple A-main event would test drivers and equipment to determine the National Champion.

From the pole, Maifield won leg #1 with ease. A win in leg #2 would seal the deal but while in complete control, an internal transmission failure sidelined him with less than a minute remaining. Teammate Travis Amezcua picked up the pieces and crossed the finish line first to set up a head-to-head battle between the two in leg #3.

Maifield and Amezcua started cleanly and made it clear that the champion would be decided with no other drivers crashing the party. Late race pressure from Amezcua kept Maifield honest but with perfect lines and no mistakes, he was able to cross the finish line first, and in history making fashion become the first-ever ROAR Open Short Course National Champion!

Tough competition and challenging track conditions require confidence in one’s equipment and predictable performance from race to race. Reedy LiPo power delivers once  again.
