Recently, Losi has announced the addition of a totally new product to their line-up. Their first 1/5th scale vehicle, the Losi 5ive-T. At first when I saw the news, I thought it was just another gas truck. After a quick look at Losi’s web site, I’ve found out I was wrong, I mean totally wrong.
The new Losi 5ive-T is what should have been gas trucks since many years. The Losi 5ive-T’s design is awesome. First, the 5ive-T is four wheel drives, it is powered by a 26cc two-stroke gasoline engine, it uses an oversized 1/8th scale chassis with oversized components. In fact, the 5ive-T is built like a 1/8th scale buggy with three differentials, huge shocks, 5mm chassis and the engine is mounted exactly where it is mounted on buggy and truggy.
I’m totally sold to this new truck. The only downside is the body. I would have preferred a real Truggy body instead of the short course body. After all, T should stand for Truggy and not for Short Course. As far as I know, the 8ight-T is a truggy, not a short course truck. I understand short course trucks are popular but please, keep the same naming concept.
The price asked for the Losi 5ive-T is around 1600$us. That’s a lot of money but it should worth it, especially when you think the 5ive-T is four wheel drives. I didn’t try the 5ive-T yet and I don’t know if I will have the chance to give it a try but one thing is for sure, Losi has set the new standard in 1/5th scale gas trucks. All I can say for now, good job Losi!
